Hume Cty Council Hume City Council
Hume City Council and the Hume Global Learning Village, with the generous support of Ford Australia, will award 48 young Hume learners with a refurbished computer, computer training and one year’s free internet access as part of the Connecting Hume PC program.

Since 2004 every primary school in Hume has been asked to nominate a Grade 4 primary school student who demonstrates a passion and interest for learning and who would otherwise be unable to purchase computers. The computers will be used by the students for their Grade 5 year.

With resources once again generously donated by Ford Australia, the computers are purchased by Hume City Council from GreenPC, a not-for-profit organisation that provides training and work experience for unemployed people.

The computers are totally refurbished and repackaged by GreenPC, who also provide ‘help desk’ support to the students and their families once the computers are in their homes.

The Connecting Hume PC Award program is one of more than 50 strategies outlined in the Hume
Global Learning Village Learning Together 2 strategy. Nomination details will be announced later
in the year and the presentation will be held on Wednesday 4 March 2009.
